1. Watching your child share sloppery toys with another child and thinking they are so precious.
2. Waking up from a nap to find that you and baby weren’t alone. Nino had joined in…and the dog was snoring under the bed.
3. Watching your son ape his father during a college football game!
4. Gawking when your son grabs the butt of his little female playdate and then proceeds to feel up her whole leg and foot too. All while the dads joke about it…
5. Telling your child that he must wear long pants with visitors coming..but then having the visitor in question proceed to burb and toot. Suddenly it wasn’t so important that he look like a gentleman afterall!
6. Creating your first family art project.
7. Watching Father put his son down for the evening in a record 10 minutes.
8. Getting up late in the night to find the changing table unfinished in the living room and your husband in fits over the design. You snapping in the last piece and making all the badness better. Then going back to bed while husband marvels.
9. Having your brother come all the way from Iraq to snap in the last piece of the exer-saucer which neither you nor your husband could force into place.
10. Watching everyone make fools of themselves over your boy!

So tonight’s entertainment involved writing thank you notes and watching WaWa assemble his first large scale child’s toy. It’s an exer-saucer. I could really get into something like this for adults. The thing is totally cool! It required a higher education to construct but WaWa did well. All those years of IKEA furniture have really sharpened the man’s skills.
WaWa felt like it was Christmas and he was assembling that much coveted gift. What a delight and one we will never take for granted!
Regular posting will resume shortly. Today started at 5AM and Trixie needs her beauty sleep

The last two weeks have been a study in frustration as I begin a new assignment with a team of Good Old Boys who alternatively leave me laughing in stitches or frustrated and tied in knots. It was suppose to be a one week visit and then remote work. Yet the Powers That Be seem to want me on the site everyday. So I stayed a second week. But I am quickly seeing that I have no reason to be on site and that remote work will be just as effective. Having said this I am hoping that I can return to my regularly scheduled work location(s).
I miss home.
I miss Wawa.
I miss my pets and my bed and my wardrobe.
I want to see Itgirl’s new abode.
But for now I will do what it takes to pay the rent.

Hell YES!
This poor.little.kitty is just killing me. I can’t stand how thin and weak he is nor can I deal with his sneezing and lack of appetite. I just want my robust, big cat back – the one that was attitude and spunk! Last night I found him hiding in the nursery closet, huddled tightly and looking so sad. I ended up carrying him to bed, petting him for hours and curling up next to him to sleep. I hand fed him too.
Today he ate on his own (although I had to help him reach his food), went potty, and is now napping. But he isn’t taking his meds and he is sneezing. I am racing to the airport for a last minute business obligation and WaWa is working. I hope that WaWa has better success than I have thus far.
Oh and let’s hope WaWa has time to install the baby gate before he picks up the new dog on Saturday.

Yes, Nino is back home. He arrived this evening looking about as excited as a wet blanket. He definitely smells good. But I guess that we all deserve a bath after we have our colons flushed. Niiice. The dog isn’t sure what to make of the cat. It smells good. It looks like Nino. But it has the attitude of a washcloth and is about 4 pounds smaller. Definitely not sure what to make of this creature.
Nino wasn’t interested in the food at the clinic and not interested in what we had to offer either. WaWa made an executive decision that everyone should leave the kitchen except for himself and the cat. No gawkers. So Mama Dog and I retired to the living room where we discussed the merits of regular baths for long haired cats. Mama Dog was in favor on many levels. However being the one who would have to put this plan into action, I wasn’t so sure about it.
While we were talking shampoo and body wash, WaWa and Nino were having a face off over the food dish. Nino tried to get down and WaWa just blocked his way. Nino -being exhausted and hungry – eventually gave in and ate something. Alot of something. Apparently one bite of Science Diet is enough to start a feeding frenzy. During the marathon-males-only-meal session, Nino managed to cover WaWa in water from the water bowl and soak the kitchen cabinets and floor. But WaWa felt proud nonetheless and was excited to proclaim that Nino had “shat” in his box!
Mama Dog and I just rolled our eyes. Soon we will be out numbered. There will be more males in this house than females. When the baby joins us, the odds will become a full 2:1. I think Mama Dog and I might need to seek out a place of safety and privacy. A place where chicks rule and men (and their body humor) are relegated to second place.
What do you think?

He didn’t like the IV and ripped it out.
He refuses to lay down and sleep and is tettering in a sitting position, doped up on pain medicine.
He is one tough cat. But then….our vet in DC named him: Nino “what d’f%^k you lookin’ at” Cat.
So he pulled through surgery where they found about an inch and a half blockage in his intestine. The incision was small but there is always the risk that bacteria could enter. So they are keeping him through Monday to watch for infection and to ensure that he will eat something.
Lunch will be served around 2PM and we will get a call. If he isn’t eating, they would like us to come in at dinner time and sit with him to see if that will stimulate his hunger. I just wanted to laugh at that comment! Stimulate his hunger? Folks, if the food doesn’t stimulate him, then nothing else will. This cat is 100% the eating machine and he needs no encouragement. In fact he is less likely to eat if we watch…he will simply “guard” his food. I recommended that they give him a dish and then leave the room. He likes to eat privately.
Meanwhile WaWa hasn’t reported back on the discussions in Florida. He is on his way home and I should know something later tonight. It sounded like he had a nice visit with his family and that the brothers were doing good. I wish I could have been there but we didn’t want to have make a decision on Nino long distance. So I opted to remain here.
Hopefully we have better news all the way around.

Sorry I haven’t written but we are waiting anxiously for word on Nino. He has been receiving in patient care for over 5 days and was released last night only to be readmitted this morning. He is in surgery now. WaWa is in Florida dealing with his mother’s terminal illness and I am here in GA dealing with our cat’s terminal illness.
I just keep crying. We at the top end of our “budget” from critical care. If the surgery isn’t successful, we will have to make end-of-life decisions for Nino. He’s only 6 years old. He’s a good cat.
This situation came from nowhere and has left us and the cat hospital breathless with the speed the condition is moving…
