Nino the Cat

He didn’t like the IV and ripped it out.

He refuses to lay down and sleep and is tettering in a sitting position, doped up on pain medicine.

He is one tough cat.  But then….our vet in DC named him: Nino “what d’f%^k you lookin’ at” Cat.

So he pulled through surgery where they found about an inch and a half blockage in his intestine.  The incision was small but there is always the risk that bacteria could enter.  So they are keeping him through Monday to watch for infection and to ensure that he will eat something.

Lunch will be served around 2PM and we will get a call.  If he isn’t eating, they would like us to come in at dinner time and sit with him to see if that will stimulate his hunger.  I just wanted to laugh at that comment!  Stimulate his hunger?  Folks, if the food doesn’t stimulate him, then nothing else will.  This cat is 100% the eating machine and he needs no encouragement.  In fact he is less likely to eat if we watch…he will simply “guard” his food.  I recommended that they give him a dish and then leave the room.  He likes to eat privately.

Meanwhile WaWa hasn’t reported back on the discussions in Florida.  He is on his way home and I should know something later tonight.  It sounded like he had a nice visit with his family and that the brothers were doing good.  I wish I could have been there but we didn’t want to have make a decision on Nino long distance.  So I opted to remain here.

Hopefully we have better news all the way around.

Niiiiiice. You’d think a vet would know that. But then again, animals are creatures of habit – and when something is wrong, they might not eat – so maybe it’s not all that crazy – but it really IS funny
